So many different types of writing? How do you teach it all?
There are three different types of writing that may come up on the 11+ exams:
๐ถ Story Writing
๐ถ Descriptive Writing
๐ถ Persuasive Writing
In this topic, I bring pedagogy to life using real examples from real students – you won’t find theoretical teaching concepts here!
Teaching writing can be challenging since it encompasses so many skills – vocabulary, creative thinking, writing in different styles, and the list goes on.
But, it doesn’t have to be challenging.
I’ll be taking you through my flowchart of how to gauge current skills, developing them using a range of teaching techniques and staying focused on the checklist of assessment areas for the exams.

And I don’t just leave you to watch the videos. There are fortnightly live sessions where we can look at examples of your students writing, think about next steps, and focus on common areas of challenge such as vocabulary.
So get your pen and paper ready to make notes!
